Some of you are probably familiar with the term manscaping and a lot of us believe it’s only about shaving below the belt. There’s a lot more to the whole manscaping thing and you most likely participate in manscaping without knowing it!
If you’ve ever shaved or trimmed body hair for cosmetic affect well, you’ve manscaped. Removing or shaping body hair for cosmetic affect is the definition of manscaping.
Why Manscape?
There’s a lot of opinions on the internet about what you should be doing with your body hair. I’ll do my best to give you some factual information why you may want to manscape first with my personal opinions at the bottom.
- Improve your body odour. With less body hair to trap dirt, oil, and sweat your body odour will improve naturally. Who doesn’t like to stay smelling great longer or to be less stinky after going to the gym?
- Improved confidence. Studies have shown that guys who more regularly maintain their body hair are more self-confident. Reasons range from feeling better in the nude to just feeling cleaner with less hair.
- Visually Larger. Trimming your pubic region or shaving it away makes your penis look bigger. You’ve probably heard the phrase “shorter the bush, the taller the tree”. Who doesn’t want to gain an inch or two even if it is only visually?
With those 3 facts, aside there’s some other benefits you might not have thought of. My personal favorite is receiving oral sex more often. No one likes pubes in their teeth so it only makes sense why you may be in the receiving end more often. Your mileage may vary.
I also love the way it makes my underwear feel. When I’m freshly trimmed, I notice a big difference in the level of comfortability with my underwear. It feels softer, more comfortable, and my appearance looks better without a bush.
How Often Should You Manscape?
You know the benefits to manscaping and you’re ready to get started, but how often should you be manscaping? Well it’s no different than shaving your face. Everyone’s hair grows back at different rates so you’ll have to figure out what works best for you.
In the beginning a good rule of thumb to test is 2-3 times per week if you’re going for a very low trim or bare look.
If you’re going for trimmed with a little more hair then aim for 1 – 2 times per week using a guarded trimmer with an adjustable length setting.
It’ll take you a month or two to figure out what’s going to work best for you.
Conclusion
Manscaping is something we should all be adding to our hygiene routine. There’s no reason to not take care of your body hair and I’m sure your significant other will be much appreciative!
Just remember if you’re new to this to just start off slow and only trim. Once you’re comfortable you may want to venture out into shaving bare. The choice is yours.
