California lifestyle has been the essence of Rufskin‘s brand philosophy since it’s very first collection in 2002. The swimwear collection for 2018 resumes “what they are all about” and comes in two waves. The first one, we show you today, is divided in four groups (Denim, Cannabis, Surf Vibe and Ruf Vida) comprising a limited run of beautiful, custom and exclusive prints on some of the most popular silhouettes of the San Diego based label. The second part of the collection will follow, later in spring, offering a range of solid colours in Rufskin’s best original cuts.
The fabric of this collection is a new, technical fiber offering 4-way stretch with quick dry properties. It allows sublimation print that looks very vivid when wet.
The Denim group of swimwear is a reminder of the start of the brand. The stretch denim swimwear marked a key stone in the history of Rufskin. By using the latest technical abilities the label carries the indigo vibe into their most popular shapes embellished with classic saddle details and golden hemp leaf.
Recreational use of the cannabis plant has recently been legalised in California. Rufskin proudly embraces this issue in a polished and sophisticated way: A series of original prints from botanical drawings, to a glorified golden hemp leaf.
The brand has a strong background in Californian surf culture. The Surf Vibe group offers a series of “Hawaiian” prints as a connecting element to two of the world’s most famed surfing destinations.
The Ruf Vida group is a clin d’œil to what Rufskin likes and supports. The sparkling rainbow flag in the hibiscus flowers represents their standpoint for equality, while the flashy 80’s print and vintage graphics are reminiscent of different eras in Cali style.
The 2018 collection comes in four of their signature styles: straight cut trunk, swim brief, sunga and euro-cut.
Enjoy some of our own favourite designs below. The campaign shoot took place in Montezuma, Costa Rica with photography and styling by the founders of the brand Coats and Pouches with their muse model Logan Swiecki-Taylor. The new designs are available from Rufskin’s official e-store, flagship boutique in San Diego and select retailers around the world.
